About Argon

The inert shield, that protects every weld.

Argon is a colorless, odorless, completely inert gas. That last word is the important one. When you weld aluminum or stainless steel, the molten metal will react with oxygen and nitrogen in the air, ruining the weld with porosity, oxidation, or contamination. Argon displaces that air and shields the weld pool, letting you lay down clean, strong beads on metals that other gases cannot handle properly.

At Smart Pro Gas, our argon is welder-grade purity, sealed under pressure, and ready to connect to your TIG setup the moment your cylinder arrives. Pure argon for TIG, plus argon-CO2 mixes for MIG (on a separate page) cover most of what fabrication shops in Dubai need.

Applications

What welders use our argon for.

Argon is what separates a clean TIG weld from a contaminated mess. Here is how welders, fabrication shops, and specialty users across Dubai use our argon.

Most popular

TIG welding aluminum

The single biggest use of pure argon. Aluminum oxidizes instantly when heated, so it cannot be welded in open air. Argon shields the weld pool completely, letting you lay clean beads on aluminum frames, panels, and structural work. Most fabrication shops in Dubai run their aluminum line on pure argon.

Stainless

TIG welding stainless steel

Stainless steel needs a clean shield to keep its corrosion resistance intact at the weld. Pure argon delivers exactly that. Used in food and beverage piping, hygienic fabrication, kitchen equipment, and decorative work where the weld needs to look as good as it functions.

Pipe work

Root pass and pipe purging

For critical pipe welds in stainless steel, the inside of the pipe also needs to be shielded so the back of the weld stays clean. Argon is purged through the pipe to displace the air. Used in oil and gas, food processing piping, and any application where weld integrity matters all the way through.

Specialty

Non-ferrous metals and specialty work

Pure argon is the go-to shielding gas for copper, titanium, magnesium, and other non-ferrous metals where reactivity is a problem. Also used in metal heat treatment furnaces, semiconductor manufacturing, and lab applications that require an inert atmosphere.

What our argon cylinders look like.

Our argon cylinders are high-grade steel, pressure-tested to UAE safety standards, and sealed with a tamper-proof valve. Each cylinder ships with a clear label showing gas type, purity, fill date, and pressure rating. The valve is the standard fitting for argon, compatible with any TIG welding regulator.

Stocked in standard cylinder sizes.

We carry argon in the standard cylinder range used by fabrication shops and welders across Dubai. WhatsApp us for the size that fits your setup, we will confirm what we have on hand and send a quote.

One product, multiple sizes.

Our argon cylinders all carry the same welder-grade purity and the same standard fittings, just in different capacities. Choose based on how often you weld and how often you want to swap cylinders.

FAQs

Common questions about argon.

Pure argon is used for TIG welding aluminum, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals where you need a fully inert shield. Argon-CO2 mixes (75/25 or 55/45) are used for MIG welding mild steel, where the small CO2 percentage helps with arc stability and bead profile. Pure argon will not give you good results on mild steel MIG welding, and argon-CO2 mix is the wrong choice for TIG aluminum. Choose based on your process and material.

Argon prices depend on cylinder size, whether you are refilling an existing cylinder or buying new, and how often you order. We offer trade pricing for fabrication shops, mobile welders, and contractors on regular schedules. Send us a WhatsApp message with the size and frequency you need, and we will send a current quote.

It depends on cylinder size, your gas flow rate, and how much you weld per day. As a rough guide, at a 10 to 15 LPM flow rate (typical for TIG), you can expect roughly 6 to 12 hours of continuous welding from a small cylinder, 25 to 40 hours from a mid-size, and 50 to 70 hours from a full-size cylinder. Most workshops size up to avoid frequent swaps. WhatsApp us with your usage and we will help you size correctly.

Yes, we deliver across Dubai including Al Quoz, Ras Al Khor, Jebel Ali Industrial Area, DIP, Al Qusais, and every other industrial zone. We run regular delivery routes for fabrication shops on weekly or bi-weekly schedules so you never run out mid-job. WhatsApp us about setting up a scheduled refill route.

We refill any standard argon cylinder, regardless of where you originally bought it. Drop your empty off or schedule a pickup, and we will return it filled. If your cylinder is damaged, expired, or non-standard, we will let you know and offer a new one as a replacement.
For most TIG welding applications including aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel, 99.99% argon (welder grade, sometimes called 4.0 grade) is what you want. This is the standard purity we supply. For specialty applications like semiconductor manufacturing or research where ultra-high purity is needed, talk to us, we can source higher-grade argon on request.
