Acetylene burns hotter than any other commercially available fuel gas, around 3,100 degrees Celsius when mixed with oxygen. That is what makes it the standard for oxy-fuel cutting through thick steel, gas welding before TIG and MIG existed (and in places where they are still preferred), brazing copper for plumbing, and flame work for jewelry and fine metalwork.

Acetylene is also a specialized gas. Pure acetylene is unstable above 15 PSI, so it is stored dissolved in acetone inside cylinders that contain a porous mass to hold it safely. Our cylinders are filled, certified, and inspected to UAE safety standards before they leave our facility, ready to connect to your torch or regulator the moment they arrive.

What is the difference between acetylene and propane for cutting?

Acetylene burns hotter than propane (around 3,100 degrees Celsius vs 2,800), which is why it cuts faster, especially through thick steel. Acetylene also produces a more focused inner cone in the flame, which gives cleaner, narrower cuts. Propane is cheaper and a bit safer to handle, but for serious cutting work, acetylene is the industry standard. For brazing and gas welding, acetylene is the only practical choice because of the flame chemistry.

What is the price of an acetylene cylinder in Dubai?

Why do acetylene cylinders need to stand upright?

Acetylene is dissolved in acetone inside a porous mass to be stored safely. If you lay the cylinder on its side, the acetone can travel up to the valve and come out with the gas when you open it. That damages regulators, contaminates your work, and means you are losing the acetone that keeps the cylinder safe. Always store and use cylinders upright, and let them settle for at least 30 minutes after transport before use.

Acetylene cylinder certifications are critical, so we will never refill a cylinder that does not pass inspection.

What safety equipment do I need for oxy-acetylene work?

At minimum: two regulators (one for the acetylene cylinder, one for the oxygen cylinder), flashback arrestors on both regulators and both torch ends of the hoses, the proper torch and tip for your work, leather gloves, welding goggles or shield with the right shade lens, and fire-resistant clothing. Never substitute equipment from other gases. We supply acetylene-rated regulators and accessories, ask us if you need a full kit setup.
